Buyer's Guide

Choosing the right seat valve

A seat valve seals via a valve disc against a valve seat, providing simple, low-leakage shutoff — ideal for clean to lightly contaminated liquids and gases. For other process profiles, sliding gate valves and pinch valves are available.

Valve type by process profile

Seat valve
Seals via valve disc and valve seat — simple, low-leakage shutoff for clean to lightly loaded liquids and gases.
Sliding gate valve
The pneumatic sliding gate control valve operates with a sliding sealing surface and is suited to different control and wear profiles.
Pinch valve
Pinches off an elastic sleeve — first choice for particle-laden, abrasive or highly aggressive media with no contact to metallic components.

Selection criteria at a glance

Media
Neutral, aggressive, particle-laden, gas or liquid — determines material and seal selection.
Connection type
Tube (-RT), bottom (-BT), nozzle (-ST) or threaded (-GE/-GT).
Function
Pure shutoff (2/2-way) or dosing.
Actuation
Pneumatic (control air available) or electric (series SE14–SE17).
Operating conditions
Pressure and temperature range vary by series – please refer to the respective datasheet or contact us for the permissible values.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ on pneumatic seat valves

Answers to the most important questions about selection, media, and connection types.

What is a pneumatic seat valve?

A pneumatic seat valve is a process valve in which a valve disc is moved against a valve seat by means of control air. This allows a medium to be shut off or released quickly, tightly, and repeatably. STASTO offers pressure-controlled series from SE01 to SE25.

Which media are the seat valves suitable for?

Depending on the series and material specification, they are suitable for liquids, gases, and aggressive media. We will match the right combination of material and seal to your medium – please contact us.

What connection types are available?

Pipe connection (-RT), bottom connection (-BT), nozzle connection (-ST), as well as threaded versions in stainless steel (-GE) and further variants (-GT). The appropriate variant depends on your pipeline.

Are electrically actuated seat valves also available?

Yes. For applications without available control air, we stock electrically actuated seat valves in series SE14 to SE17 as a separate category.

How do I find out the pressure/temperature range and delivery time?

These values depend on the specific series and variant. We will provide you with the permissible operating data and availability on request or based on the datasheet of the specific model.

What is the difference between a seat valve and a ball valve or diaphragm valve?

The seat valve seals via disc and seat, making it exceptionally low-leakage. Ball valves and diaphragm valves cover different construction and wear profiles. We are happy to advise you on the right type.
